recently, i fell deeper in love with Erin Kennedy’s winsome and delicate photography, and recent endeavors in mixed media/collage. Erin grew up in my hometown and it’s always exciting to see this degree of talent and loveliness blossom out of such a small, stodgy town- and what’s more than that, is to see her incredible interpretation and inspiration that has stemmed from the town through her work in the past. her artist statement reads:
“When you are forced to do something in order to live, that’s when death creeps up on you. Erin was recently diagnosed with cancer, causing her to face mortality, which furthered her exploration of fragility. Her subject’s deathlike appearances create somber undertones, which emulate her current condition. She represents her subjects in vulnerable states to convey her view of vulnerability as a collective symbol of strength and beauty.”
All the best of luck, warmth, and health to her, and her inspirational, enchanting, and sometimes wonderfully enigmatic art.
